DUBAI, June 24, 2017

Indian multinational conglomerate Essel Group said its regional unit has acquired Serena Middle East, the Dubai-based business of media and production company Serena, as part of its regional expansion strategy.

Serena was established in Spain in 2012 and is now the most advanced post production studio in the country.

Renowned for its creative talent and technological skill, it has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry including Proctor & Gamble, Nestle, Coca Cola, Unilever, Vodafone and Etisalat. The group's Middle East unit was set up in Dubai in 2012.

Essel Group ME (Egme) operates in a broad spectrum of industries including media, packaging, infrastructure and technology.

Building on Essel Group’s 90 year history of developing and promoting businesses, Egme is leading the expansion of the group’s presence in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, it stated.

On the acquisition, Essel Group said this provides an attractive entry for Egme into the region’s fast-growing and vibrant media and production industry.

"EGME is building a diversified portfolio of world-class assets across EMEA region. In addition to its natural resources assets, the company is actively seeking out attractive growth opportunities for its other businesses," remarked chairman and managing director Gagan Goel.

He has extensive experience in media and television as part of parent company Essel Group, which owns one of the largest media production businesses in the world. His deep knowledge of the industry will help Serena to reach new heights.

According to Goel, Serena is unique in the industry for its craftsmanship, advanced technology, and deep understanding of the audio-visual business.

"I am delighted to welcome Serena to the Group and to take another step forward in our growth," he added.

Walid Saad, VP of Middle East, Serena and Manager, Serena ME said: "As we believe in global opportunities, Egme gives Serena the exciting opportunity to expand our footprint into multiple markets in the Middle East."

"Scale matters and this partnership with Egme will strengthen the leading positions of both businesses in the region," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
