I3DPI which is the first licensed institute of its kind is being established to provide a platform to educate, provide training, and certify individuals in the various aspects of additive manufacturing, said a statement from the company.

I3DPI was launched to support the ‘Dubai 3D Printing Strategy’ launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, by providing a unique platform for advancing AM knowledge and skills across the region, it said.

I3DPI’s 22 specialised courses will cover a wide array of subjects related to 3D Printing and range from basic level to more advanced sector and application specific topics.  Courses to be offered include ‘Introduction to AM’, ‘AM Materials’, ‘Architectural Design for AM’, ‘AM Process SLS’, ‘Innovation in AM’, ‘Topology Optimisation Design’, ‘AM Integration into Traditional Manufacturing’ and the ‘Economics of AM’, among many others, it added.

The programme will be led by a skilled set of UAE-based lecturers and trainers, as well as visiting experts from across the world.  I3DPI is an open platform institute and will host courses by 3rd party international organizations as well as its own certified courses. In addition to the courses offered to professionals, there will be collaboration with UAE based academic institutions as part of I3DPI.

Alongside its comprehensive range of courses, I3DPI will provide a job marketplace and networking opportunities for graduates and professionals seeking roles in the sector, or organisations seeking new employees with AM experience.

During the second phase of the initiative, I3DPI will strengthen its position as the region’s foremost 3D printing institute by launching an e-learning portal to further facilitate the dissemination of skills and knowledge throughout the AM sector.

Fahmi Al Shawwa, speaking on behalf of I3DPI, said: “In line with the ‘Dubai 3D Printing Strategy’, I3DPI has been established to support the progress of this sector in the region by providing aspiring and established AM professionals with opportunities to enhance their skill-sets and career opportunities, gain an understanding of how to integrate AM into traditional manufacturing processes, and acquire a solid base of AM knowledge to drive future innovation.”

“We hope to become the point of reference for anyone hoping to expand their professional knowledge and skill set in AM across the region,” Al Shawwa added. – TradeArabia News Service
